We had some alcohol (certainly, it's "Friday Night"). First, I have to swear that I wasn't drunk at all.
Anyway, just when I took a little break to the bathroom, finishing it, I hit myself with the bathroom door. What a idiot! Obviously I was so excited that I wanted to go back as fast as I could; however, my movement with the door wasn't quick enough to let my head to get thought. I hit right on the edge of it--"OUCH"!
So, here it is my little bump right beside my right eye. It was swollen and hurt a lot for the rest of Friday night, and all day yesterday.
Hopefully it won't leave any big scar on my face... what a stupid thing I am...

Feeling A Bit More Like Home

Michelle and I spent the entire Friday night being couch potatoes.
We watched I-Robot, casting the hottest guy we both love, Will Smith. Sipping down our drink little by little (she had beer and I had raspberry vodka with orange juice, and later with ginger ale), we exchanged some of the fun things we had in the past. Of course, we shared our thoughts regarding the types of guys each of us like--very girly talking. But I love it!
It seems that we are getting along well gradually. Having a such a cute, generous roommate is one of the greatest things in the world. Departing with a great anxiety, I was finally at the place I've been wanting to visit since 3 years ago. Can you believe that? 3 years!
It had also been a year since I saw Herm for the last time in Taiwan. He's still cute and hot, just like what I used to know about him. Herm's roommie, Par, was really cool as well. I just couldn't help loving them both.
It was a great weekend--a bit crazy, filled with drinking and party. The weather down there even reminds me of the weather back home--hot, which made the people there so friendly. Hanging with Herm's gang was extremely funny. I had soooooo much fun there!
No doubt, I'll go back again sometime soon. It is not because I don't like where I live now. It is just because Austin is a place full of love and joy!

Niagara Fall Trip

Just got back from Niagara Fall Today. That was a really fun trip and I had the most of fun since I came here. With Fen (a Taiwanese girl), and Claudia (a Mexican girl who's taking PHD in Chemistry), and the other bunches of international students, we handed the Fall on this very morning.
Niagara Fall is really famous for its boat trip, called "Maid of the Mist," which takes people to the spot that is sooooo closed the the waterfall to experienced to be showed under those huge tons of water. We did that. These little plastic raincoat provided by the state park could resist the power of thousands of water splash at all. The wind was really strong when we got really closed to the waterfall, and we were like those little halfings with blue cloaks on. Water came from everywhere along with the wind. Fortunately there were not too many people on our boat, so we were allowed to go to the front of the deck. It was a bit crazy but really fun!
Later I took the other route with an Indian friend called Raj. We decided to take a walk to "Cave of the Winds," which is a path that leads people to the bottom of the waterfall. The waterfall was only 2 meters far from the platform--of course, I was showered by the waterfall again.
Then, taking some of the walks around the river side, I relaxed all the nerves with the embrace of beautiful nature. That comforted every stirring souls on the earth.
Knowing friends better, and having fun together, I definitely enjoyed this final fun of my last day of the summer vacation.

Finally Here

Ya, after total 18 hours of fly, Here it is: Buffalo.

An Encounter

It was a nice, but maybe not too smooth encounter. I've been back and forth between these two cities in four years, and haven't really thought about the parting ever.
Today, after the last night at the temporary apartment with Ben, I suddenly realized it's so closed to the end for my life in either Taipei or Kaohsiung. I won't be able to spend some nights out with my dear friends at bars. I won't receive calls from Ben about playing pool. There will not be time to discover some new dinning places with Thomas. So on and so on...
Everything that happened in the past is just like the reflection on the bubbles--so really, yet so fragile. I know they are really, but I'm not allowed to touch, grab, and not to mention to store them.
I understand quite well that nothing is unchanging. Or maybe it's because that most of time, I was not the one who was leaving. Mostly the environment stayed the same. Then, it's different and difficult this time. The most economic and easiest accommodation is undoubtedly the dormitory. Then, UB gives the grad students the other three choices to live at the on-campus apartments. Since living in the dorm resembles a disastrous life with OK quality of life, I picked up on-campus apartments as my decision.
One of my preference of apartments was Flickinger Court, where people are required to rent an entire unite--it means that You have to have a roommate! The office of Flickinger Court sent a list which had all these applicants' names on it. The job I needed to do was do find somebody to live with me for a year. I've actually sent a mail to all these people except of Taiwanese and Chinese on the list. I'm not a racist (I'm a Taiwanese), but I'd love to meet someone from the local. I also e-mailed guys because I was afraid that none of the girls would respond me--the fact was I've be declined by two girls saying that they've either decided to live off-campus, or been placed. Well, it was not a positive beginning for my roommate hunting...
The first seeming acceptable notice I got was from an Jamaican law school freshman. Out of what I expected from a Jamaican, he preferred his prospective roommate to be "quite and clean." I understand that cleanness is essential when it comes to living. But, come on, have you ever heard of any "quite" Jamaican people ? He probably would ask me to be quite that he could play his reggae all day long! Then, a French guy replied too. He seemed to be nice and funny. However, he's a French!--maybe a bit too open-minded. It might be stereotype, but I don't want to take any risks to be molested.
Fortunately, one girl mailed me back and said that she's interested in living together. Moreover, this nice reply was form an exercise science major! In other word, I might have an advisor of exercise in the future. That definitely reduce my chance of getting fat while I stay in the US--the fattest country in the world. After exchanging some of our preferences regarding roommates, we REALLY agreed to live together. Her name is Michelle Johnson, and I think she'll be a nice person to hang out with for she seems to have an enthusiastic and easy-going personality. I'm really looking forward to actually meet her later!

Sonnet

An unexpected mind you sudden made,
Torn the peace in the world of tranquillance.
T'was your craving for freedom mainly played,
Which haad not brought me the full acceptance.
Two quarters of seasons shifted by,
But what left was the doubtful decision.
"Memory stood not, between you and I,"
Thus you said, in a tone of confusion.
Wherefore hurt me if we used to cherish,
Respect, and even love one another?
And wherefore treated me with your selfish
Mind that disguis'd as an total stranger?

__________________________________________________________

This is the sonnet I wrote for a class. In order to get those summer vibes, Thomas, Angus (his boyfriend) and I decided to take a day trip to Fulong, which was just a hour of train away from Taipei City. Our main aim was to a nice tan for the summer. It's also great to get away from the city and leave everything troublesome behind. Since I won't have much sun light when I get to Buffalo, for me, this would be a nice memory.
We got there at around 12. After lunch, we set off toward the beach and started our tanning program :D. There were more people than I expected: some coming as groups, the other as family, and still the other as couples. I wished I'd have somebody sepcial to hang out with on the beach, especially my companions were such a cute couple. Somehow it was really comfortable to be "single" here. This way I didn't need to bother considering the thoughts of that particular person, and my happy mood would not be spoiled by somebody's caprice. Besides, Thomas and Angus were such sweet hearts. We had great time there undoubtedly.<

"Who Do You Think You Would Miss the Most?"

"Who do you think you would miss the most?" Herman asked. "Ben? Jackie? or your mum?" My answer was, "All. I'll miss them all." There is indeed a undenial bond between my family and me. But for the other people, especially my dear friends, I feel another exceptional, irreplaceable attachement.
I love everyone around me. Each of them is a particular existence, which has contributed to parts of my personality, thought, and life. Dear Jackie has been the most supportive figure and helped me to get through all these "catastrophes". I could not forget Thomas's consideration and enthusiam all the time. Although Ben has played an ambiguous part in the past year, during which I experienced something abnormal (some know what I'm talking about), there is always a special sharing and intimacy between two of us. Diana, the most ladylike person among all, kept me company during some of those lonely nights. During this disturbing time in which I suffered, I'm glad that Michael was there to listen to me with patience and care. Despite Sherry's absence of last year, she still occasionally provided me love from the states. The days I spent with Bryan on the tennis court brought vitality to me, and he was a great pal, too. Besides, Victor's humors are the triger of my laughters. And Judy constantly shows her gentility to me. The other thanks are for my lovely roommates, Christie and Jessica, who treated me as if we were sisters. Then, the person across the sea, Herman, is undoubtedly the best of the best, for he'd comfort me while I cried like a baby . The are also John, Henry, Rap Guy, Dog, and many that had given me a strong hand when I needed them.
I feel I'm special not because I have some magnificent accounts. I'm special because I'm blissed by all these loves. With those amazing relationships with each of them, I thus realize I'm turly alive, for "The greatest thing is to love, and to be loved in return."

The Little Portrait

 The Little Portrait
Originally uploaded by wuhsinchin.
Bringing this portrait back from the store today, I was quite surprised that it came out so well.
